Police Recruitment Nigth

In the last few months, Somali Community Inc. has been working hard to come up with ways to assist the Somali Community and especially the youth on finding employment.

There is a big gap in the employment aspect in the area where most of the Somali Community and this is greatly affecting the future of our youth.

This issue has led us to contact as many organisations as possible that could assist us with the lack of employment.

One of the organisations we spoke to was Victoria Police. It is important that we work with VP to find ways that we can assist those interested in the Police Forces and how we can also ensure that people with African backgrounds can have access to employment with them.

An event was held yesterday at Melbourne North Police Station where Victoria Police had a recruitment session for people of African backgrounds and encouraged them to join this program.

There was a turnout of 43 young people who were interested in the recruitment program and Somali Community Inc. took a big part of it.

Officer Mohamud, who is a Police Officer in Canada also attended the event and encouraged the youth to take advantage of such a great career.

It was a great night, the program was fantastic and we expect great results to come out of it in the future.
